How I Can Support You

My experience as a Board-Certified Music Therapist can support you or your loved one to reach their full potential. You'll always be met with a friendly face and upbeat personality, and music is directly utilized in sessions to aide learning and skill development. My background from studying at Colorado State University can help students explore piano, improvisation, songwriting and more. I also play guitar, bass, and trumpet, which allows me a unique perspective into the balance of instruments within an ensemble that can give you insight to the whole musical process.

My Story

I first became interested in supporting people using music as a kid. when I would volunteer with my sisters in nursing homes to provide piano music on Sundays. My senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the VA hospital in Albuquerque, NM in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit as an assistant to the Recreation Director. There, I was able to connect with the veterans through conversation and music; I realized that sharing music could be a powerful tool in bringing people together and improving their quality of life. In various ways throughout my experiences, I have found that music is a spectacular way for people to share and connect.

I began teaching in high school, providing lessons to students on the piano and guitar in 2008. I worked at Piano & Guitar Institute in Fort Collins, CO from 2014 to 2016. I established my own teaching business when I moved to the other side of the country. I have been providing music therapy services since 2017. Between 2016 and 2019, I worked in Washington, D.C. at a forensic psychiatric hospital called St. Elizabeths first as an intern and later a contractor. During my time there, I established an in-hospital radio station in which the individuals could be DJs, have conversations on the show, and play music they selected. In my time as a music therapist, I have worked with individuals and with groups. I have had the joy of working with people from many different walks of life, from young children to older adults. I have worked with kids and adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and learning disabilities such as dyslexia. I have also worked with older adults with Parkinson's Disease and dementia. With each individual I work with, I recognize the importance of meeting them where they are and providing a space conducive to individual strengths, needs, and goals.

Offering kindness, warmth, and care. Providing individualized, high-quality music lessons and music therapy sessions specialized to you or your loved one's interests, strengths, and needs. Developing a special connection with each person and appreciating their unique path in the world.
